Leaving Full-Time Software Engineering to Build Micro-SaaS Full-Time

Why I stepped down from full-time SDE work on July 31, 2026 to focus 100% on VisaReadyNow and PhotoResizer.

The Part-Time Dilemma

In early 2026, I was working as a full-time software developer at Collegedunia while developing side projects in the evenings and on weekends.

While juggling full-time enterprise responsibilities:

  • I launched photoresizer.in and made my first online dollar on photoresizer.us.
  • I completed 4–6 months of manual visa guideline research and started building VisaReadyNow.
  • I built and launched BelieversArt, an e-commerce platform for a Canadian client.

However, as workload at Collegedunia increased, side-project velocity began to stall. Critical customer support emails went unanswered during work hours, bug fixes were delayed, and search rankings fluctuated when new features couldn't be shipped on schedule.

The Turning Point

In 2024, my earlier mobile app Resourcify was suspended by Google Play after 3 unaddressed policy warnings because I lacked the bandwidth to push target SDK updates while managing full-time job commitments.

I realized that building sustainable independent software products requires undivided focus and fast feedback loops.

On July 31, 2026, I formally left my software developer role at Collegedunia to dedicate 100% of my time to building independent micro-SaaS utilities.

The First 60 Days

Going full-time immediately accelerated project outcomes:

  1. Rebuilt the core conversion flows and automated processing pipelines on VisaReadyNow, generating $250+ USD in direct customer sales.
  2. Formatted and open-sourced our entire 190+ country specifications dataset on npm and PyPI on August 31, 2026.
  3. Expanded PhotoResizer programmatic clusters, resulting in a September 2026 breakout to 1,000+ daily clicks and 25,000+ daily impressions.

Building full-time does not guarantee success, but it removes the friction between identifying a customer problem and deploying the fix to production.
